Philippines join the list with the most number of delegates to World Youth Day

Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) announced that Philippines ranked 9th on the list of 170 countries who have the most number of delegates to the upcoming 23rd World Youth Day in Australia.

We are the only Asian country who have a huge volume of delegates who signed-up via internet.

Australia would be fielding the largest number of delegates with 100,000. The United States (US) followed second with 15,500 participants.

On the list are:

  • Italy (10,000)
  • Germany (6,000)
  • France (5,000)
  • New Zealand (4,200)
  • Spain (3,500)
  • Canada (3,000)
  • Philippines (2,500)
  • Poland (2,000)

The WYD starts now until July 20 (Sunday). Pope Benedict XVI is expected to attend on the said event.
